Elmwood gets back to .500 mark
Elmwood High School's baseball team concluded a successful week with a 13-3 non-conference win over Clear Lake at Raider Field Friday which put them back at the .500 mark this season at 7-7 overall.
ELMWOOD - Elmwood High School's baseball team concluded a successful week with a 13-3 non-conference win in six innings over Clear Lake at Raider Field Friday which put them back at the .500 mark this season at 7-7 overall.
The Warriors loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the second inning. EHS switched pitchers to Noah Wells who allowed two runs to score, the final two ones for CL as it turned out.
The Raiders plated a run in the second and then plated three more in the third and fourth innings and four runs in the fifth.
Wells tossed a one-hitter for five innings to get the win with seven strikeouts. Top batters for Elmwood were Josh Wells, 2-for-2 with four RBIs, Bryce Unser, two hits and two RBIs, Bailey Beyer, two RBIs, and Noah Wells himself, two hits and two RBIs.
Elmwood now will turn its focus to the Dunn-St. Croix Small Division title chase in which it is a game behind Alma/Pepin in the standings. The Red and Black label has four league games left, two next week starting with Colfax at home Monday and at Glenwood City Thursday. They host Alma/Pepin on May 14 before concluding league play May 17 at Plum City.
