An Ellsworth man was sentenced to three years’ probation Monday in Pierce County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child.
Brandon J. Donley, 34, 281 E. Summit Ave., was also ordered to 300 hours of community service as a probation condition. Circuit Court Judge Joseph Boles issued no jail time.
“Given all the factors, I believe this is appropriate,” Boles said to Donley. “I am mindful of your family situation (Donley has a son diagnosed with cancer) and I want to make sure that you are there for him.”
Boles believed the sentence didn’t warrant prison and also wanted to underline the seriousness of the offense. Other conditions include registering as a sex offender, no contact with victim and undergoing a sex offender evaluation.
