The Pierce County Finance and Personnel Committee reviewed a multitude of items Monday.
Among them, committee members:
--Approved increasing hours for the Deputy County Clerk position from 35 to 40. Clerk Jamie Feuerhelm explained the request was due to the increase in election legislation, along with consistent requests for hunting/fishing licenses, marriage licenses and passports. The increase in hours coincides with long-time Deputy Clerk Gwen Swanson retiring last month after nearly 27 years. The request goes to the full county board for approval.
--Approved restructuring duties within the public health department. Director Sue Galoff explained a Public Health Nurse (PHN) vacancy occurred in February and, instead of refilling, the decision was made to recruit a full-time nutritionist. Dianne H-Robinson, the current nutritionist, will focus more on PHN duties. Galoff said this move was done to improve the health of the community.
