Letter: Walker’s austerity measures have mirrored Europe’s, he says

TO THE EDITOR: Let’s be crystal clear on one thing.

Candidate Walker ran for the governor on one promise, above all others. Jobs.

He promised over 250,000 jobs and 10,000 new businesses by the end of his first term. Let’s at least agree on that so far.

In reality, Gov. Walker’s austerity measures have mirrored the same austerity measures as Europe’s austerity measures. Unemployment. Of the 50 states, non-farm employment has increased in 45, remained the same in one and unemployment has increased in four. Of those four, Wisconsin has the largest percentage increase in people who have lost jobs. Real people. Real families. Real jobs. Fact.

This week, Gov. Walker told Newsmax magazine that Wisconsin had a net increase of jobs since his election. This is not true, but it will not stop Walker from herding more sheep to the wolves. Tax cuts for the wealthy does not trickle down. Never has, never will. What it does is create The Great Depression under Hoover’s leadership and The Great Republican Recession under Bush’s lack of leadership.

The single greatest scam job on American taxpayers is that tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs. Technically, they do, but those are jobs for super high dollar lawyers and accounting firms. Ultra-rich companies and individuals make super rich people out of accountants and lawyers.

Meanwhile, the middle class has to work harder just to stay afloat economically. There are no more middle class single-earner households when a hard-working person could afford to feed, house, educate and provide healthcare to a family. Does anyone remember the great 40 continuous years when Democrats controlled the House of Representatives? The Greatest generation.

There are many reasons to recall Walker; for now, think of jobs lost. Don’t stand with the man who would stand on you.
