UWEC women 's golf team in third at nationals

ANGOLA, Ind. - UW-Eau Claire is in third place at the halfway point of the NCAA Division-Three women’s golf tournament.
The Blugolds moved up two spots from Tuesday’s first round thanks to Catherine Wagner. She shot a one-under 71 yesterday, and moved up from 19th place to take the individual lead. Eau Claire is now at 46-over-par 622 after 36 holes – just two strokes behind Methodist, which moved into the lead. First-round leader Williams College dropped to fourth. Carroll of Waukesha remains last among the 19 teams in the tournament. They’re at 56-over-692.
Wagner enters today’s third round with a two-stroke lead among the individuals at five-over. Mary Welch of Stevens Point is tied for 13th at 11-over. Carroll’s top player is Erin Sullivan, who’s tied for 79th at plus-25.
