Sand plant permit okayed by town board in Pierce County

A sand screening and drying facility in the Town of Trenton took a step closer to reality with the approval of a conditional use permit by the town board Wednesday.

TOWN OF TRENTON—A sand screening and drying facility in the Town of Trenton took a step closer to reality with the approval of a conditional use permit by the town board Wednesday.

Board members voted four-to-one in favor of the permit application from William F. Holst for Fairmount Minerals--Wisconsin Industrial Sand Company, according to Town Clerk Steve Thoms. Thoms described the number of people who attended the special board meeting about the proposed facility along Hwy. 63 west of Hwy. 35 near the railroad tracks as “good-sized.”
