State players miss cut in TPC
Wisconsin Sports-- Three Wisconsin PGA golf pros all played poorly in the first two rounds of The Players Championship in Florida – and they’ll all miss the weekend cut.
PONTE VERDA, Fla. - Three Wisconsin PGA golf pros all played poorly in the first two rounds of The Players Championship in Florida – and they’ll all miss the weekend cut.
Steve Stricker of Madison shot a two-over-par 74 in his second round today. He’s at six-over-150 – six strokes behind the projected cut. Stricker, the world’s Number-six golfer, was 123rd in the Players’ standings as of mid-afternoon. Pewaukee native Mark Wilson was tied for 129th at seven over 151. And Jerry Kelly of Madison was tied for 136th, after finishing at 10-over-154. Kelly did shoot an even-par 72 today, after firing an 82 in his first round yesterday.
Zach Johnson led the tournament at mid-afternoon at eight-under.
