Diamond sharp again as Twins salvage split

Minnesota rookie shortstop Brian Dozier hit a solo homer and scored twice as the Twins took down the Blue Jays 4-3 yesterday at Target Field. Ryan Doumit laced a two-run single to help Minnesota jump out to a 4-zip lead, en route to salvaging a split of the four-game weekend set. Lefty Scott Diamond tossed seven shutout innings to improve to 2-and-0 for Minnesota Matt Capps earned his seventh save.

The Twins open up a two-game home series with the Indians this evening. Carl Pavano will be on the mound for Minnesota to face his old team Cleveland. The Indians will counter with Jeanmar Gomez. First-pitch at Target Field will be at 7:10 p.m.
