UWRF eliminated from NCAA regionals

PELLA, Iowa - UW-River Falls fell just short of making the NCAA Division III softball finals today. The Falcons lost to Luther College 3-2, in the final game of the regional at Central College.
Luther scored twice in the first inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Lauran Schneider and Abby Christian. Another run-scoring single in the fourth by Morgan Franklin was the eventual game-winner. River Falls scored both its runs in the sixth. Hayley Buchanan scored on a wild pitch and a catcher’s error, and Patti Olson belted an RBI-single. But it wasn’t enough, as River Falls was sent home as the regional runners-up. Rosa Tusa tossed a six-hitter in taking the loss for River Falls, giving up three runs – one earned – with no walks and three strikeouts.
Luther now advances to the national D-Three softball finals which begin on Friday in Salem, Virginia.
