Group addresses suicide, sudden death

Area News
-- Circles are a structured process that typically involved individuals from different aspects of a situation. SCVRJP began using the process to address sudden loss and specifically suicide in April of 2010. The next series of Restorative Response Circles is scheduled for 6-8 pm, May 24, weekly until June 28th. The session will be facilitated by SCVRJP co-founder Keith Rodli.

The St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice Program (SCVRJP) of River Falls is offering Restorative Response Circles for those impacted by suicide, traffic death or sudden preventable death.

When someone we love dies, there is loss -- loss that is sudden and preventable has additional trauma. For people who that have experienced this kind of loss, SCVRJP is offering an opportunity for healing.

Participants are welcome --whether the loss was 3 months or 3 decades ago. Remembering loved ones and telling the story of their lives, and the impact of their death has been beneficial to past participants.

Past comments included the feedback that the Circles were “caring, helpful, respectful, supportive and worthwhile”.

Another participant shared what they liked most was “the atmosphere of comfort and non-judgment. It was easier than I thought to express intimate details.”

SCVRJP has been providing Restorative Justice Circles since 2003.
