No. 1 Prescott completes unbeaten MBC season with 6-4 win over Ellsworth
After losing a 3-1 lead, Prescott came back to score three runs to beat Ellsworth 6-4 Thursday at Brown Field and finish its Middle Border Conference schedule undefeated.
HAGER CITY - After losing a 3-1 lead, Prescott came back to score three runs to beat Ellsworth 6-4 Thursday at Brown Field and finish its Middle Border Conference schedule undefeated.
Ellsworth tied the score at 3-3 in the fourth inning but the Cardinals added a run in the fifth and two more in the second. The Panthers scored a run in their last at bat but it was not enough.
Logan Johnson had two hits, including a double for PHS while teammate Jake Hintz hit a two-RBI double. Derricks Munsen had two hits for Prescott.
EHS was led by Jake Betthauser two hits. Teammate Brandon Voelker drove in a run.
Matt Holman was the winning pitcher with Connor Loutsch getting the save. Despite the loss Ellsworth pitcher Brady Schroeder struck out nine Prescott batters.
Ellsworth finished 11-3 in MBC play and in second in the league standings. The Cardinals are 20-1 overall while the Panthers are 14-4.
