No. 1 Prescott falls to No. 7 Altoona

The No. 1 ranked Prescott High School baseball team suffered just its second loss of the season Monday afternoon 5-3 to No. 7 ranked Altoona in a non-conference contest to conclude their regular season.

ALTOONA - The No. 1 ranked Prescott High School baseball team suffered just its second loss of the season Monday afternoon 5-3 to No. 7 ranked Altoona in a non-conference contest to conclude their regular season.

The Cardinals are the top-ranked team in Division 3 while the Railroaders are ranked in Division 2 and play in the same regional tournament as Ellsworth. They are the No. 2 seed behind the Panthers.

The Railers opened up a 4-0 lead after three innings. Prescott lost despite outhitting the home team 9-6

The Cardinals came back with two runs in the fourth but Altoona responded with a run in the their next at bats and PHS could only add one more run in the sixth. Their big hitters were Phil Mazzei, who drove in three runs on two hits and Drew Magur, who was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double. Winning pitcher Justin Jinkins also doubled and struck out seven batters.

Billy Brookshaw, Logan Johnson and Brandon Keiper each had two hits for Cards with Jake Hintz hitting a double as did Derrick Munsen.
