Letter: Barrett can’t lead Wisconsin

TO THE EDITOR: June 5, 2012 will be a critical election day for the future of Wisconsin. In my opinion, Gov. Walker has implemented programs that provide for a bright fiscal future for our state. Others disagree and will vote for Tom Barrett who has been the mayor of Milwaukee since 2004. A look at some critical statistics for the city that he has led should be cause for concern:
—A poverty rate of 29.5% last year and an increase year-over-year of 46.1%.
—Unemployment rate is 10.4% as of March of this year.
—Increased taxes 10.1% in 2009.
—A high school graduation rate of 61% and 47% for blacks and a truancy rate of 46%. Further, the graduation rate of the principal school district of Milwaukee is only 41%, 4th worst of any major U.S. city.
In addition, Tom Barrett has an F rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA) for his lengthy anti-gun stance, supporting gun bans, endorsing state gun registration and supporting regulation of gun shows.
The choice is clear, We cannot afford to have the failed leadership of Tom Barrett extend to the entire state of Wisconsin.
