AUSTIN, Tex. - UW-Milwaukee junior Durell Busby lowered his already-impressive time in the 110-meter hurdles while qualifying for the NCAA men’s track championships. This weekend at the regional meet at the Unniversity of Texas.
Busby completed his feature race in :13.67 seconds. He becomes the first hurdler from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to make it to the nationals.
UW-Oshkosh had two champions in the Division III women’s championships in Claremont, California. Breanna Strupp led the field in the women’s shot put and Christy Cazzola won the 15 hundred meters. UW-Oshkosh finished second in the meet with 52 points. Wartburg finished first with 129. On the men’s side, UW-Stevens Point sophomore Dan Sullivan won the 15 hundred meters, UW-River Falls freshman Mike Sandle won the triple jump, St. Norbert’s Justin Johnson won the 110-meter hurdles and UW-Stout’s Tim Nelson won the five thousand meters. UW-La Crosse finished second to McMurry. UW-Stout, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Eau Claire were next in line.
No team slotted number-12 has ever won the lottery and claimed the top pick. It’s more than rare. The Milwaukee Bucks have just a seventh-tenths of one percent chance of making it. They would then grab consensus number-one pick Anthony Davis of Kentucky. The Bucks are looking for a power forward and the scouts say this is one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. The 2012 NBA Draft will be held Wednesday.
