PLUM CITY--The Plum City School Board announced May 3 the district will join forces with Elmwood in softball next year.
Superintendent Steve La Fave said the move made sense, as Plum City is already merged with Elmwood in track and field, and will play as one team this fall in football. Plum City has been with Spring Valley the last few years in softball.
In other action, the board:
--Accepted the resignation of math teacher Rick Stewart. La Fave said the position will be refilled. At the same time, the board approved a reduction in hours for Karen Hilleren, 4K/Elementary Phy-Ed (45 percent) and Ruby Westlund, Special Ed/Title I (60 percent). La Fave said the reductions are based on projections for student numbers. The 4K class is estimated to have between 13-16 students and the kindergarten class will have 22.
--Approved the committee assignments and board management for the next year. Kurt Henn remains as president, Andy Wieser as vice president, Shirley Gilles is clerk, Gail Fisher is treasurer and Julie Gilles is director. The only committee assignment to change is Fisher will succeed Henn as the CESA-11 representative.
