A Hastings man was sentenced to 42 months prison Tuesday in Pierce County Circuit Court as a result of three battery charges.
Randy S. LaCoursiere, 28, entered an Alford plea back in March to two counts of battery to emergency rescue workers and one count to law enforcement officers. An Alford plea means the defendant does not admit the act, but admits the prosecution could likely prove the charges.
“The way you treated these people were despicable,” Judge Joseph Boles said. “And they didn’t deserve it.” Boles went on to say the fact he entered the Alford plea because he didn’t remember the incident was very troubling (LaCoursiere had a .295 blood alcohol level).
LaCoursiere was charged last September as according to the criminal complaint, Prescott police were advised of a possible domestic dispute, involving LaCoursiere, who already left the scene. Police caught up with him, and immediately knew he was drunk. When asked about the alleged incident, he started walking away. Police ordered him to stop and turn around and talk. He responded with a profanity.
