MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota's Francisco Liriano combined with two relievers on a three-hitter as the Twins shut out the Athletics 4-0 yesterday at Target Field.

Liriano gave up three hits and struck out nine over six innings for his first win of the season. Liriano had been sent to the bullpen after starting the season 0-and-5 with an ERA over nine. Josh Willingham went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Minnesota, which swept the three-game series. Brian Dozier also singled in a run for the Twins.

The Twins are off today. They will begin a three-game road series with the Indians tomorrow.

When the Twins begin a three-game series in Cleveland tomorrow night, they won't have to face one of the Tribe's top sluggers. Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner was placed on 15-day disabled list and will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Thursday. Hafner is expected to miss four to six weeks. Left-handed reliever Scott Barnes was called up from Triple-A Columbus to fill out the roster.
