Mine and trout trip
On May 21, the Ellsworth eighth grade went on a trip to Fairmount Minerals and Pine Creek in Maiden Rock.
On May 21, the Ellsworth eighth grade went on a trip to Fairmount Minerals and Pine Creek in Maiden Rock. At Fairmount Minerals, they learned about the company and the different types of sand mined there. They took a ride 2,000 feet back and 210 feet underground into the mine. The students also learned about Pine Creek and how work is being done there to restore it so the brook trout can flourish. Trouts Unlimited and two reps from Fairmount Minerals were on hand to teach the students about the creek, and learn about the brook trout.
