Osceola's Danielson wins second straight state title
Charlie Danielson of Osceola won his second individual WIAA State Boys' Golf title in a playoff against Madison Edgewood’s Johnny Decker. Both had finished four-over in regulation.
MADISON - Hartland Arrowhead rallied yesterday to win its fifth state boys’ high school golf title in the last six years. Arrowhead won the Division 1 crown with 611 strokes over 36 holes at University Ridge Golf Course
Holmen, the first-round leader, was seven strokes back in second. Milwaukee Marquette was third. Jordan Niebrugge of Mequon Homestead won the individual crown in Division-One. He shot a six-under-par 66 yesterday, and finished at 136 – tied for the lowest in state history. Henry Klongland of Stoughton and Willie Wittmann of Kaukauna were both four strokes back in a tie for second.
In Division-Two, Edgerton won its first state championship with 620. Madison Edgewood was second at 625. Charlie Danielson of Osceola won his second individual title in a playoff against Edgewood’s Johnny Decker. Both had finished four-over in regulation.
In Division-Three, Cuba City scored a 27-stroke victory over Osseo-Fairchild. Josh Smith of Hazel Green Southwestern won the individual crown by one stroke over Nate Strigenz of Fond du Lac Springs.
