Kenseth now the leader in NASCAR point standings

-- Wisconsin’s Matt Kenseth moved into first place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup season point standings yesterday.

POCONO, Penn. - Wisconsin’s Matt Kenseth moved into first place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup season point standings yesterday.

Kenseth, of Cambridge, took seventh at the Pocono-400 in Pennsylvania. And the previous series leader, Greg Biffle, dropped to third place after taking 24th at Pocono. Dale Earnhardt Junior jumped into second in the standings with an eighth place showing yesterday.

Kenseth now has 523 points for the year, 10 more than Earnhardt and 16 more than Biffle. Paul Menard of Eau Claire finished ninth at Pocono, and he rose two spots in the standings to 13th. Travis Kvapil of Janesville took 26th yesterday, and he jumped one spot in the point totals to 31st. Joey Logano won the race, after a record run to win the pole.
