Members from Cub Scout Pack 145 spent Memorial Day in Elmwood as they took part in the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Park.

ELMWOOD--Members from Cub Scout Pack 145 spent Memorial Day in Elmwood as they took part in the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Park.

“They loved it,” Pack Leader Kelly Books said. “They knew about respecting our military, veterans and remembering those who fought and served in the war.”

American Legion Post 207 officially dedicated the park. Denise Rohan, Wisconsin State Commander, was the guest speaker. Other events included a ribbon cutting, music from the Elmwood High School Band, presentation of a new United States flag and a 21-gun salute.

Books said Memorial Day was the formal opening for the park and added they plan on doing a service every year.

Since the event, Pack 145 went fishing on Glen Lake and will visit Honey-Do Rescue Agency in Knapp to learn what it takes to feed and care for rescued animals.
