Boys and girls state high school golf championships were won yesterday at MSHSL state meets across Minnesota.

Moorhead won the 2012 Class 3A Minnesota State Boys' Golf championship yesterday, bettering second-place Minnetonka by 14 shots over the two-day tourney. Detroit Lakes claimed the Class 2A boys' trophy by a single shot over Hermantown. And, Legacy Christian Academy rallied to win the Class 1A boys' title. New Prague was a nine-stroke winner over Stillwater in the girls' Class 3-A chase. Detroit Lakes won the girls' crown in Class 2A in dominating fashion. And, Lewiston-Altura was the Class 1A girls' championship team. The Class 3A tourney was at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. The Class 2A event was contested at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. And, the 1A tournament took place at Pebble Creek in Becker.

The Minnesota Vikings will have their tenth and final Organized Team Activity workout today at team headquarters in Eden Prairie. Minnesota quarterback Christian Ponder told reporters this week that he is much more comfortable with the team's offense after having gone through these off-season football-related workouts. He wasn't able to do the workouts last year because of the NFL lockout. In addition, Ponder was honored as the team's Rookie of the Year by the Vikings Children's Fund. Ponder earned the award for his off-field charity work over the past year.

Roger Goodell is issuing a reminder to all NFL personnel about the dangers of impaired driving. According to CBSSports.com, the commissioner has sent a memo to all 30 NFL clubs entitled, "Responsibility and Safety." It comes after a rash of recent DUI arrests. In the memo, Goodell reminds players, coaches and other team employees about the need to be responsible, avoid potential trouble and to use available league resources for help. The memo comes as many teams are wrapping up minicamps and breaking before the start of training camp next month.

The Minnesota Lynx square off against the Phoenix Mercury tomorrow evening in Arizona. The Lynx beat Phoenix 105-83 in their season opener on May 20th. Minnesota improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season with a 93-73 win at Tulsa on Saturday. They wrap up this week's play on Sunday at Seattle.

The NBA Finals resume tonight in Oklahoma City. The Thunder host the Miami Heat in Game Two after taking Tuesday's series opener 105-94 earlier this week. LeBron James had 30 points to lead the Heat. James is now 2-9 in his career in the Finals.

The NBA is fining former T-Wolves star and current Celtics forward Kevin Garnett $25,000 for not making himself available to the media after the team's Game Seven loss to the Heat. The fine was announced yesterday. The Celts lost 101-88 at Miami in the deciding game of the NBA Eastern Conference finals.

The Los Angeles Kings victory parade is today. The 45-year-old franchise won the Stanley Cup for the first time on Tuesday night at Staples Center by beating the New Jersey Devils, 6-1, in Game Six. The parade will start at noon at 5th and Figueroa and end at the Staples Center, where an hour-long championship rally will be held.

The second major of the PGA Tour season tees off this morning with first-round play at the U.S. Open. A pair of star-studded groupings will take the spotlight for the first two rounds. Defending U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy, and fellow top-ranked players Luke Donald and Lee Westwood are in one group. Four-time U.S. Open winner and 14-time major champion Tiger Woods, five-time U.S. Open runner-up Phil Mickelson and reigning Masters champion Bubba Watson are in another.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) is calling for national standards when it comes to boxing. He says the national rules would probably be based on Nevada's regulations. The comments from Reid come as he's pushing for an investigation into the controversial fight between Timothy Bradley and Manny Pacquiao. Recently the World Boxing Organization decided to look into the results of last weekend's fight. Promotor Bob Arum, who represents both fighters, submitted a request for inquiry on the judges' scoring on Monday. Bradley earned a split-decision victory over Pacquiao last Saturday night in Las Vegas. Bradley won on two of the judges' scorecards to capture the WBO welterweight title. The decision was greeted by gasps and boos at the MGM Grand on Saturday night. It ended Pacquiao's 15-fight winning streak and stunned many analysts who believed Pacquiao dominated the bout.
