Wisconsin Sports-- Pewaukee native Mark Wilson shot a six-over-par 76 today in his opening round at the U.S. Open golf tournament in San Francisco.
SAN FRANCISCO - Pewaukee native Mark Wilson shot a six-over-par 76 today in his opening round at the U.S. Open golf tournament in San Francisco.
Wilson was only one-over after 10 holes. But he double-bogeyed the 14th hole – and he had a triple-bogey eight on the 522-yard 17th hole at the Olympic Club. Wilson had been in a tie for 11th place over the noon hour when he had five holes down – and by late afternoon, he slipped all the way down to a tie for 82nd.
Steve Stricker of Madison was just starting his first round late this afternoon. Michael Thompson was the clubhouse leader at four-under-66.
