Brewers snap losing streak by beating Twins 5-3
Regional Sports-- Martin Maldonado pounded a two-run, tie-breaking home run in the ninth inning to give Milwaukee a 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
MINNEAPOLIS - Martin Maldonado pounded a two-run, tie-breaking home run in the ninth inning to give Milwaukee a 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Corey Hart had led off the ninth with a double. With two strikes on him, Maldonado pounded a fastball from Matt Capps into the bullpen. Then, closer John Axford bounced back from two straight blown saves to toss and 1-2-3 ninth inning and preserve the win.
Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano had carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, when Ryan Braun followed two walks with a three-run homer. Trevor Plouffe had two home runs for Minnesota, including one which tied the game at 3-3 in that same sixth inning.
