Hunter-Reay wins Milwaukee Mile Indy car race

Wisconsin Sports
-- Ryan Hunter-Reay took the lead on the 142nd lap, held it through two restarts, and won yesterday’s IndyCar race at the Milwaukee Mile race at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.

WEST ALLIS - Ryan Hunter-Reay took the lead on the 142nd lap, held it through two restarts, and won yesterday’s IndyCar race at the Milwaukee Mile race at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.

The first victory of the season for Hunter-Reay is the sixth of his career. He had won at the Milwaukee Mile eight years ago in the now-ended Champ Car Series. Tony Kanaan was second yesterday, followed by James Hinchcliffe. Driver Scott Dixon finished 11th after serving a drive-through penalty for jumping a restart. Later, race officials admitted they were wrong because they had looked at the wrong video.

Just before the race, promoter and team owner Michael Andretti told the sizeable crowd the race would return to Milwaukee next season.
