HUDSON - Rescuers have found the body of a Minnesota teen who drowned yesterday, while trying to swim across the fast-moving Saint Croix River on the Wisconsin side.
Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen said the 18-year-old Lake Elmo man and about four of his friends tried to swim across a 200-yard channel from the Hudson dike to the Minnesota shore. Jensen said the victim completed about a-third of the journey when he began to struggle. He turned around to go back, and Jensen said his friends tried to help – but they couldn’t get to him before he went under.
A search continued late into the evening before the victim’s body was finally discovered. His name was not immediately released.
