Ellsworth junior American Legion baseball team begins season 3-0

Ellsworth's junior American Legion baseball team is off to a 3-0 start this season.

On June 6 the junior legion team had a double header against Blaine in Hager City and won the first game 10-0 in 5 innings. Logan Armstrong was the winning pitcher, throwing all five innings and recording eight strikeouts, zero walks, and only one hit allowed. Ellsworth only had five hits but were helped by seven walks. Jens Lantz, Jonah Conway, and Reese Sager all scored twice.

The second game Ellsworth won 11-3, Lantz was the winning pitcher throwing five innings and recording seven strikeouts and gave up two runs, Brett Shulte pitched the 6th and gave up one run and Max Kuehn pitched a scoreless 7th. Lantz went 3-4 at the plate with a walk and 4 runs scored. Spencer Schroeder went 2-for-4 with a triple, Jonah Conway went 2-for-3 with 2 walks, and Austin Krauss had two hits. In all Ellsworth had 10 hits.

Then last night Ellsworth played against Mahtomedi in Hager City and won 7-2. Logan Armstrong was the winning pitcher recording 14 strikeouts in the complete game victory. Armstrong gave up two hits and no walks. Ellsworth had two RBI-doubles back to back from Brett Shulte and Armstrong for some insurance runs. Hits came from Armstrong, Shulte, Jonah Conway, Zach Ristow, and Nate White.

Ellsworth's next game is a double header on Thursday, June 21st in Hager City, first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
