The Socks mark Greinke's highest loss total at the plate, counting his time with Kansas City. His last start, last Sunday's 15-inning loss to Minnesota, Greinke gave away his most hits of the season.

The Midwest League opens the second half of its season tonight with each team once again starting from scratch and working toward one of two playoff spots that will be awarded on labor day. The two teams will join Wisconsin and Beloit for postseason play.

Two Northwoods League players took player of the night honors last night as the Rochester Honkers took on the Battle Creek Bombers. Honkers third baseman Brandon Defazio and Bombers first baseman Sikes Orvis each got six RBI's and one run scored. Defazio came out the overall winner as the Honkers beat the Bombers 9 to 4. They each play again tonight with Rochester traveling to Willmar and Battle Creek hosting the Woodchucks.

Madison native Jerry Kelly stands at 2 behind the leader at the start of the second day of the Travelers Championship PGA tournament in Cromwell, Connecticut. Kelly came in at 4-under par Thursday, with only four players besting him. The current leader is North Carolina's David Mathis at 6-under.

Former University of Wisconsin golfer Sam Frank took the title Thursday at the WSGA State Match Play Championship. Frank sank a 20 foot birdie on the 16th hole to clinch the lead from Brady Strangstalien of Viroqua Hills Golf Course. Frank went into the tournament as the 8th seed out 64. His first round match-up was with Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo, who stood in first place at the beginning of the week.
