Prescott Kiwanis fishing contest Saturday

The Prescott Kiwanis Club will be holding its 16th annual kids fishing contest Saturday (tomorrow) at Mercord Mill Park.

The Prescott Kiwanis Club will be holding its 16th annual kids fishing contest Saturday (tomorrow) at Mercord Mill Park.

The event was rescheduled from June 2 due to flooding concerns. The free event will be held for kids 18 years and younger.

Registrations begins at 8:30 a.m., while at the same time a casting practice, casting contest, fish ID, knot tying and general equipment usage/maintenance will be held. That event is sponsored by the High School Fishing Club, Prescott Sportsman's Club, Great Rivers Printing and Churchill Market.

The fishing contest will then begin at 9 a.m. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate. They will also need to bring their own fishing gear and lifevests.

The Boy Scouts will be selling coffee, donuts, hot dogs, chips and soda.
