Beard winners
Ben Ries, left, won the beard growing contest, a special 150th anniversary attraction of the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival. Ries, the husband of local Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sarah Ries, was announced the winner in the people's choice category Sunday, while Jack Hines, right, took the Fullest Beard honors. Paul Bauer, center, of the Ellsworth Co-op Creamery presided for the announcement.

Young contestants filled their faces when the cheese curd eating contest was held as part of Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival activities Sunday. A camera crew from the “Discover Wisconsin” TV show recorded the action.

Brad Marx performed under the local Cheese Curd Festival’s big tent Sunday. While entertaining, Marx helped build the suspense for the cheese curd eating contest to follow.
