Dealing with criminal offenders is a big part of John O’Boyle’s job as Pierce County District Attorney.

The St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice Program (SCVRJP) does likewise, but from a different perspective. O’Boyle, a founding member of the program who’s on its board, talked about the SCVRJP at an Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce meeting Thursday.

The program’s mission is to build and sustain a culture of peace and belonging utilizing restorative justice principles and community resources, he explained.

”In my system, it’s jails, fines and penalties,” he said, referring to law enforcement. “In this program, it’s bringing people together.”
