Elmwood woman back in critical condition

A 21-year-old Elmwood woman is back in critical condition as she recovers from a car accident last week.

Laura Wood was traveling westbound on County Highway G June 21 when she apparently lost control of her car, entered the south ditch and overturned. She was thrown from the vehicle. The crash occurred about one-third mile east of 110th Avenue.

Pierce County authorities were advised of the crash at 2:29 a.m. Deputies responded, as did Elmwood Fire and Ambulance personnel, a paramedic from Ellsworth Area Ambulance and a helicopter from North Memorial Air Care.

Wood was transported from the scene to a landing zone, then flown to Regions Hospital.

She was originally listed in critical but by Monday afternoon it had changed to serious. Friday, a Regions spokesperson said Wood was back in critical.
