Ellsworth Senior Legion Team wins New Richmond tourney

For the second year in a row the Ellsworth Senior American Legion won the New Richmond Butler-Harmon Post 80 Tournament.

NEW RICHMOND - For the second year in a row the Ellsworth Senior American Legion Post 204 baseball team won the New Richmond Butler-Harmon Post 80 Tournament.

Ellsworth topped River Falls 9-1 on Friday. The winning pitcher Chandler Flynn tossed a one-hitter with four strike-outs. Dan Giese had three singles and Flynn hit one double as Ellsworth had 10 hits.

Ellsworth then beat New Richmond Saturday 13-2. Eric McGregor pitched a three hitter for Post 204. Getting two hits each for Giese, Marson, Hines, Koller and Chandler Flynn hit triple.

Hours later Ellsworth topped Altoona 8-3. Brady Yanish pitched a complete game and Nick Taranto had three doubles in this game. Logan Armstrong had a double & single and McGregor had two singles.

In the championship game Sunday Ellsworth shutout Somerset 8-0. Hines was winning pitcher - a three hitter - while Giese hits three singles. Hines hit a single and one double while Flynn hits two singles and Taranto hit a double and two singles.
