County teams get St. Croix Valley League wins

Hager City, Elmwood and Ellsworth all picked up wins in St. Croix Valley League action last weekend.

Hager City won twice and with these two wins now have the most wins they've ever had in SCVL play since joining the league in 2009. HC is 4-7 in league play.

The Skeeters edged Plum City 7-6 Saturday Darren Georgakas getting the win and Brady Brenner the save. HC then beat Bay City in 16-14 marathon match-up which went 12 innings. Tyler Regnier hit the winning double. Tim Green was the winning pitcher as both teams used eight combined on a hot Sunday afternoon in Hortenbach Park. The Skeeters' Chad Melstrom had four hits.

Elmwood bounced back from 12-2 loss at Menomonie Friday to edge St. Croix Falls at home Sunday. The Expos' Royce Baier hits two-run homer in the seventh to break a 8-8 tie.

St. Croix Falls was victimized by a Pierce County team again last weekend

as Ellsworth blanked them 10-0 Saturday in St. Croix Falls. The win kept the Hubbers above .500 after getting hammered 20-8 by Hudson at home.

Also last weekend, Hudson edged Spring Valley 5-4 Saturday in Spring Valley. The River Rats scored two runs in the eighth Dylan Willett had three hits to lead the Hawks and teammate Derek Wegner had two hits.
