Ejections lead to ugly loss for Brewers

The victory broke a nine-game losing streak for the Astros and it didn’t hurt – at least it didn’t hurt them – that Milwaukee’s best pitcher was done for the day. Greinke was ejected for spiking the baseball after a close play at first base. He thought the runner was out. That gave Houston a bit of a boost, as did a home run by Scott Moore and three hits apiece by J.D. Martinez and Jose Altuve. The Astros scored in that heat-filled first inning, then added three more off Livan Hernandez in the third. Houston wound up scoring more runs than they had plated in their last three games.
Milwaukee scored twice in the sixth on a pair of errors and a wild pitch. The final Brewer run was knocked in by Cody Ransom’s eighth-inning double.
The Astros may still have to deal with Greinke. There is talk the righty might start today for Milwaukee, the last game before the All-Star break.
