The event, traditionally held on Saturday mornings, has been changed to Friday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. Registration begins at 6 p.m. at the Pierce County Fairgrounds Picnic Shelter in Ellsworth.
A Picnic Dinner has been added to this year's festivities. The public is invited to enjoy the free will donation picnic beginning at 6:30 p.m., held in the shade of the Picnic Shelter at the fairgrounds.
The picnic is not just for runners/walkers, but is another way the community can donate and support ACS. The dinner is donated by Bo's-N-Mine of River Falls. It will be available until gone.
The family-focused event has added a children's walk, games and activities. The children's walk will begin at 7 p.m. with a start and finish line circling the picnic shelter. Children's games and activities will begin at 6 p.m. to coincide with the beginning of registration.
The 5K Run Walk beginning at 7:30 p.m. has a new shortened route. The new route guides runners/walkers from the fairgrounds south on Maple Street, east on Main Street, north on Terrace Avenue, west on Summit Avenue, north on Grant Street, west on Overlook Drive, north on Brown Street, east on Burton Circle, south on Industrial Road, west on Cairns Street to the fairgrounds entrance on Cairns, totaling 3.25 miles.
A Luminaria Ceremony has been added to the closing ceremonies. Luminaria Bags can be purchased in honor or in memory of a loved one, to celebrate survivors and remember loved ones lost to cancer. Luminary Bag donations are $5. To reserve a Luminary Bag, send name of loved one, donor’s message, donor’s name and phone to PO Box 674, Ellsworth, WI 54011.
