MINNEAPOLIS -- The WNBA Minnesota Lynx host the struggling Tulsa Shock in a matinee game at the Target Center today. The Lynx snapped a three-game losing streak with a 107-86 win at Tulsa on Tuesday night. After today's game, the WNBA will begin a month-long layoff to allow the league's elite players to take part in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. Three members of the defending league champion Minnesota team will be representing Team USA at the Games. They include Hutchinson's Lindsay Whalen, Seimone Augustus, and Maya Moore. Today's game tips off at noon.

The Major League Baseball All-Star break continues today, meaning everyone is back in action tomorrow. The Twins will entertain Oakland at Target Field on Friday for the first game of a three-game series. The game will kick off a seven-game homestand that concludes with four in a row against Baltimore from Monday through Thursday of next week. Twins catcher Joe Mauer played two innings in Tuesday night's all-star game at first base and collected a single in his only at-bat. The National League beat the American League 8-0.

No American ever scored more goals or had more points in the NHL than Mike Modano and few teams in any sport can match the success that Lou Lamoriello's New Jersey Devils have had in the past 25 years. For their accomplishments they have landed in the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, along with Eddie Olczyk, as the Class of 2012. The three men will be inducted in the Hall of Fame in the fall with a date to be determined in the near future. The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum is located in Eveleth, Minnesota

The University of Minnesota Board of Regents voted yesterday to allow beer and wine sales at T-C-F Bank Stadium Regent Dean Johnson supported the move, but not without reservations. He says the University's central mission is about students, academics and research -- and too much time and thought has been given to the issue of alcohol. Beer and wine will be sold at Golden Gopher football games one hour prior to kickoff through halftime in a designated beer garden and in the premium section. The Board of Regents' action comes after an extended dispute at the legislature over selling alcohol throughout the whole stadium versus in premium seating only.

A number of fish kills are being reported in Minnesota lakes and record-setting heat may be behind it. The DNR's Jack Lauer says natural summer fish kills are not unusual. He says surface temps in shallow lakes have reached the lower 90's in the afternoon and that's pretty tough on cool-water species like northern pike. He says even some of the bullheads and carp are dying. Lauer says fish kills are usually not serious in the long run. He says most lakes contain thousands of fish per acre and the fish kill represents a very small percentage of the total.
