Nesseth, Butts get Lions club awards

The Ellsworth Lions Club held their annual awards meeting on June 25.
Lion Jay Nesseth was the recipient of the Lion of the Year Award, for his strong efforts and dedication to club causes throughout this past year.
Lion Jay has served as club treasurer the past two years and as a zone chairman the past two years at the district level. He has chaired the Lions food stand at the past few Cheese Curd Days, has been instrumental in the Lions food stand at the past few Polka Fests, and has actively volunteered at all club events, fundraisers and service projects.
Lion Jay was also named Lion of the Year in 2007.
Melvin Jones Fellowship
Lion Calvin Butts received Lions Clubs International’s highest honor, the Melvin Jones Fellowship.
Lion Cal has been a member of the Ellsworth Lions for 41 years, served as club president for two terms and on the club’s board of directors for many years, served at the district level as a zone chairman and has been actively volunteering in club events, fundraisers and service projects throughout his 41 years with the club.
Lion Cal has chaired the club raffles, and co-chaired the fishing derby service project and advertising fundraiser for many years.
