MILWAUKEE - Cody Ransom had a nice night at Miller Park. It was a grand slam by Ransom in the eighth inning that secured the 10-7 win for Milwaukee Brewers over the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday evening.
He started the night responsible for one of three runs scored in the first inning, a lead the Pirates wouldn't answer to until the fourth inning when they went up 5-4. It was also a good night for Martin Maldonado. He had a career-high four hits and stole his first base.
The series opening win over the Pirates was much needed as the road ahead includes nine games with teams leading them in the NL Central.
