An Ordinance to amend Sections 8.05, 8.07, and 10.03 of the General Code of Ordinances of the Village of Ellsworth.

WHEREAS, the Village Board deems it expedient and necessary to amend the building numbering system

provisions of the General Code of Ordinances,

NOW THEREFORE, Be It Hereby Resolved by the

Village Board of the Village of Ellsworth as follows:

Section 1. Sec. 8.05(1) is changed to substitute the words "Public Works Director" for "Street Commissioner."

Section 2. Sec. 8.07(8) is amended by replacing the last sentence thereof with the following: "The cost of placement or replacement of any number or numbers on any house, building, or structure shall be borne by the owner or occupant of the house, building, or structure, said numbers in all instances to comply with the standards set forth herein."

Section 3. Sec. 8.07(11) is amended to read as follows: "SIZE AND LOCATION OF NUMBERS. All numbers placed on houses, buildings or structures in accordance with this section shall not be less than 3 inches in height, shall be uniform in appearance, and shall be of a color which contrasts with the background of that part of the structure upon which they are placed. All such numbers shall be clearly visible from the adjoining street and, where not so visible, the owner shall place adjacent to the street a post or other item located at least 3 feet above ground grade with the house, building or structure number affixed thereto."

Section 4. Sec. 8.07(14) is amended to change the phrase "house or building" to "house, building or structure" and the words "Street Commissioner" are changed to "Public Works Director."

Section 5. Sec. 10.03(6) is amended to change the words "eight (8) inches" to "six (6) inches."

Section 6. This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication.
