NRB votes today on new state wolf season
Outdoor News-- The state Natural Resources Board is expected to vote today on the rules for Wisconsin’s first wolf hunt.
STEVENS POINT - The state Natural Resources Board is expected to vote today on the rules for Wisconsin’s first wolf hunt.
The governor and state Legislature approved the hunt earlier this year, and they told the DNR to come up with most of the details. The season will run from October 15th through the end of February – and hunters can use dogs and traps at night.
DNR staff members have proposed a harvest limit of 201 wolves in six management zones throughout the state. The number of hunting permits would be limited to just over two-thousand. The matter will be discussed further when the DNR Board meets in Stevens Point.
