Grant helps bring Ellsworth library program to prime time

The Ellsworth Public Library has been awarded a $1,500 grant from Allina toward adding to its summer programs.

Children have long enjoyed the outdoor summer entertainment series at the Ellsworth Public Library.

But there was something missing: adults, other than those accompanying the kids to these afternoon programs.

Library officials thought if only they could afford to offer similar outings in the evenings, they could reach a wider (and older) audience. That’s where Allina Health’s Neighborhood Health Connection has proven helpful.

Library Director Shelley Anderson said Thursday she first heard about the health care provider’s financial assistance at a local chamber of commerce meeting through Heather Logelin of River Falls Area Hospital, an Allina-affiliated facility. Now, the library here has been awarded a $1,500 grant from Allina toward its effort.
