Spring Valley hires new baseball, girls basketball coaches

Spring Valley High School has hired new baseball and girls basketball coaches. They are Brad Baker for baseball and Brady Hoolihan for girls basketball

SPRING VALLEY - Spring Valley High School has hired new baseball and girls basketball coaches. They are Brad Baker for baseball and Brady Hoolihan for girls basketball.

Both coaches were hired at a recent meeting of the Spring Valley School Board.

Baker is a veteran, experienced baseball coach who has coached at Ellsworth High School, the Ellsworth Hubbers amateur team and was an assistant with Spring Valley this season coaching the JV squad. He filled in for departed coach Jeff Carver after the latter was on leave along with assistant coach Bob Thomas and helped the Cardinals win a share of the Dunn-St. Croix Conference Small Division title for the second season in a row.

Hoolihan, a Spring Valley native, is the former head coach at Eau Claire Regis and led the Ramblers to the 2011 WIAA State Division 4 Championship. He coached three other regional championship teams at Regis and had an overall record of 126-37. He resigned as head coach at Regis in 2011 after being unable to get a teaching position there according to news reports and was an assistant coach at Menomonie with his brother Sean last winter. Hoolihan takes over for former head coach Dan Stasiek.
