Ellsworth junior legion wins playoff game
The Ellsworth American Legion junior baseball team won its opening round playoff game Monday at Brown Field.
HAGER CITY - The Ellsworth American Legion junior baseball team won its opening round playoff game Monday at Brown Field.
Ellsworth defeated the Rodgers, Minn. Royals and won 10-0 in five innings. Winning pitcher Logan Armstrong threw a perfect game in only 42 pitches, 36 of which were strikes. Armstrong struck out six, with no walks and no hits. Our leading hitter was Brett Schulte who went 3-for-3 at the plate and Logan Armstrong who went 2-for-2 with a triple and two walks. Nick Taranto added 3 runs and 2 hits.
The team's next game will be on Wednesday. They won their final two regular season games last week.
Ellsworth was in Hudson on July 16 and the score was 12-2 in six innings. Eric Mcregor pitched a complete game striking out 11 batters and giving up one earned run on two hits. The leading hitter for the Post 204 squad in was Logan Armstrong, who went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Brady
Last Tuesday Ellsworth defeated Chisago Lakes, Minn. 11-0 in five innings. Ellsworth only had eight players at the game. Armstrong was the winning pitcher striking out eight while walking one and giving up three hits. Eric McGregor who went 2-for-2 with a double and Michael Koch hit a double.
