Timberwolves trade Ellington, rumored to be interested in Kirilenko

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Timberwolves traded guard Wayne Ellington to the Grizzlies Tuesday in exchange for forward Dante Cunningham.

Ellington spent three seasons in Minnesota averaging six-and-a-half points and nearly two rebounds per game. Six-foot-eight Cunningham averaged just over five points and three-point-eight rebounds per game last season with Memphis. It is unclear whether the Wolves will keep Cunningham.

Minnesota is also reportedly pursuing former Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko. Yahoo Sports is reporting the Wolves are part of a multi-team trade that would send swingman Wes Johnson to the Suns and Kirilenko to the Wolves. Thirty-one-year-old Kirilenko spent the lockout-shortened season in the Russian League. The Wolves have agreed to deals with Russian guard Alexei Shved, ex-Portland guard Brandon Roy and free-agent Celtics center Greg Stiensma.
