T-Wolves sign Russian guard Shved, trying to work deal for Kirilenko
Minnesota Sports-- The Minnesota Timberwolves officially announced the signing of Russian guard Alexei Shved to a three-year contract during a conference call Wednesday.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves officially announced the signing of Russian guard Alexei Shved to a three-year contract during a conference call Wednesday.
Timberwolves President David Kahn said Alexei is a very fine ball player who will help the team however coach Rick Adelman chooses to use him. Kahn added they don't want to put too much pressure on Shved to produce at a high level in his first NBA season. Twenty-three-year-old Shved had 22 points and six assists as Russia defeated Nigeria to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
The Wolves are still working on a deal to land Shved's Russian League and Olympic teammate, ex-Jazz All-Star forward Andrei Kirilenko. Yahoo Sports is reporting Minnesota is trying to finalize a two-year, $20-million-deal with Kirilenko. The Wolves are also reportedly part of a three-team trade that would send swingman Wes Johnson to the Suns.

The Timberwolves are adding another game to their 2012-2013 preseason schedule. Minnesota will take on the Indiana Pacers at the Fargodome on Wednesday, October 10th. It's the Wolves first trip to Fargo in ten years. The Wolves have played 16 exhibition games in North Dakota, more than other state except Minnesota. The T-Wolves host their first preseason game at Target Center October 13th versus the Bulls.
