ROBERTS - A project engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says drivers are ignoring safety signs in a construction zone near the St. Croix County community of Roberts.
The seven and a half million dollar project includes four new roundabouts, new curbs and guttering, lighting and signage on Highway 65, just north I-94. DOT engineer Dave Koepp says people are moving barricades and driving right through the work zone.
Koepp says they have been very blatant about ignoring the barriers. He says those actions haven’t delalyed the project, but there are safety concerns. St. Croix County Sheriff’s deputies have handed out several tickets.
