An eastern Wisconsin woman is due back in court tomorrow, after she was accused of severely injuring her three-year-old son a number of times. A Calumet County judge will decide if there’s enough evidence to put 26-year-old Kristin Hidde on trial for two counts of felony child abuse. Prosecutors said Hidde caused injuries consistent with quote, “massive multiple blows or kicks to the genital and abdominal area.” A doctor at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital said the amount of force that was used could have killed the child. Hidde is also accused of abusing the toddler’s six-year-old brother. A judge has turned down a request to reduce her bond from the current 10-thousand dollars.

Police in the Fox Valley have not decided whether to investigate the death of a burglary suspect as a homicide. The man was injured during a break-in at a house in Kimberly on July 12th. He was treated at a hospital, and was released soon afterward. But a relative told police that the man died six days after the break-in from unknown causes. Fox Valley Metro Police say they’re the results of an autopsy and medical tests before deciding how to proceed with the matter. Three people were hurt during the incident. Other details have not been released.

A guardian from Appleton is now accused of stealing almost three-quarter million dollars from his clients. 45-year-old Jeffrey Schend was charged 15 months ago with embezzling over 400-thousand dollars. New charges filed yesterday allege that he took another 340-thousand. On-line court records said the offenses occurred between 2006 and March of last year. Schend was a contracted guardian for the Outagamie County Health-and-Human Services department – and he was helping clients with personal, medical, and financial decisions. Schend was originally charged with seven felony counts of theft from a business setting. Eight more theft counts were filed yesterday, along with a dozen misdemeanor counts of false swearing for allegedly submitting false documents to Social Security. The case is at the stage in which pre-trial requests are being proposed.
