Four best days of summer just ahead at fair in Ellsworth
“The Four Best Days of Summer” are coming this Thursday through Sunday, otherwise known as the Pierce County Fair.
The calendar is well into the summer of 2012, with its uncharacteristically high amounts of heat and humidity, but the best is yet to come.
People looking for an even hotter time—activity-wise--are invited to “The Four Best Days of Summer” this Thursday through Sunday, otherwise known as the Pierce County Fair. The fairgrounds in Ellsworth will hold animals, exhibits, music, comedy, food, talent and fun over the fair’s run.
Special days have been designated, including Senior Citizens Day on Friday and a Salute to Veterans on Sunday (changed from opening Thursday in the past so those veterans in the work force have a better chance to participate). The vets’ salute offers a ceremony in the picnic shelter at noon.
Among other notable changes for the 129th county fair is a switch of the truck pull from Thursday or Friday evening in the past to Sunday noon, in conjunction with the garden tractor pull. Meantime, the pedal tractor pull is shifted from Sunday afternoon to Thursday evening. And Thursday’s community talent shows will begin a half-hour earlier, at 4:30 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.
