GREEN BAY - Pre-snap penalties were about all Packers coach Mike McCarthy had to complain about after Friday’s Family Night scrimmage.
Seven of them were bothersome to the Green Bay head coach. Other than that, the crowd of 55,000-plus was pretty pleased with the prospect of some high-caliber NFL football to be seen.
Rookie defensive tackle Jerel Worthy and inside linebacker Jamari Lattimore were some of the standouts in the full contact, two and a half hour scrimmage. The Packers ran almost 50 plays with full contact, plus several special teams plays.
Earlier in the day the team announced agreement on a four-year deal with punter Tim Mashtay. He set Green Bay franchise records last year for gross yards at 45.6 and net yards at 38.6.
